· The teacher reviews with pupils what they have learned during and at the end of the period
· Links subject matter to the students’ own experiences
· Incorporates achievement test analysis and recommendations in their planning
I believe I satisfy all the descriptors in this set of teaching standards. Long term plans are essential to help teachers see the whole picture and to help us decide on where timing and scheduling can be a bit flexible, given all the activities and other interruptions that happen throughout a school year. Below is an example of one of the course outlines I wrote this term which was handed in to administration.

A piece of planning advice I got from my mentor teacher was to plan the way that works best for me. We had to learn how to to a formal unit plan write up and I saw the merit in having the document, but when it came down to actually teaching the lesson, I found that I needed to write down my daily plans by hand. It is an effective way for me to visualize how I intend the lesson to go in my head and try to predict potential difficulties. In the first few years of my teaching profession, I may spend a lot of time writing comprehensive unit and lesson plans for subjects I am not as familiar with. These would be used as resources and can double as plans for substitute teachers if needed, but my preferred planning method, though it may be considered old-fashioned in our technologically advanced world, is to plan and write things out by hand. I do like to have a digital copy of my plans as well, so I have searchable documents in my files. Below are a few examples of my written plans.

Below is an example of a structures review sheet and a quiz to check their understanding.
